The belgian dip

One of the last things I did with my mom was... the belgian dip. A few of my friend told me I HAD to do the belgian dip while I was in Belgium. If you've seen the movie Austin Powers 2, then you know what a belgian dip is ;) So my mom and I went to this cute little café where they serve amazing dessert and the best coffee/latte I've ever had (lait russe). I'm going to see my parents in Belgium on Friday and one of the first things I'm going to do is get one (or two) of those coffees :)

So of course, I took pictures of the belgian dip, I had to document this for my friends ;) My mom was laughing so hard, I thought the pictures would all be blurry, haha!

I was only supposed to get the foam LOL, clearly it didn't work. So my mom made me do it again. The people in the restaurant probably thought we were crazy, lol.

Oh well, this will have to do, haha! What a funny moment I shared with my mom. I can't wait to see my family!

I went birding today

I haven't been birding much lately, mainly because it only seems to rain on the weekend! It's very aggravating because I have a few photo op ideas and I have to wait for the weekend (I'm too busy during the week lately). Hopefully mother nature will cooperate with me soon :)

Even though it was very gloomy this afternoon I managed to get a nice few shots of a concerned veery, I think I was close to a nest. I'm very happy with this one, I was shooting in raw so I was able to brighten up the photo a bit.

Thanks for visiting :)

Newest purchase

I've been getting ready for my trip to Europe next month and since I'll be going snorkeling for the first time, I thought I'd look into buying a waterproof camera. After reading a few reviews I've decided to go with Canon's Powershot D10, which is not only waterproof, but freezeproof and shockproof as well. I was so stoked when I got it, played around a bit with it (it's funny to me that I have NO idea how to use a point and shoot camera anymore, I'll need a bit of practice with that one!) but it wasn't until one week later that I got brave and tested the camera underwater. So I filled a bowl with water, turned the camera on, and (eeek!) put it inside the bowl.

Now how cool is that!

There's even an underwater setting. Needless to say, I really can't wait to go snorkeling!

Fresh new blog

Hi! So I've decided to start a new blog. Instead of having a blog mainly about birdwatching, I thought I'd have one where I can also post about my other hobbies as well, such as photography and traveling. It will be mainly photos like my other blog (which I will eventually be locking). It will just have more of a variety of pictures. I'll probably be going back and post a few things I never got the chance to share in my other blog, such as my trip to Europe 2010.

And for my first post, here's a picture of a purple daisy I saw this afternoon, such a pretty flower.

Thanks for stopping by :)
